Future propulsion systems must fulfill more and more stringent emission limits and face challenges like the introduction of RDE legislation (Real Driving Emissions). Additional with hybrid vehicles and the development of higher efficient combustion engines the exhaust aftertreatment development becomes even more challenging because of the lower exhaust gas temperatures.
To face these challenges, advanced exhaust aftertreatment technologies and control systems are developed. Latest model based methods like virtual calibration and DoE are used. The work takes place by simulation, at engine test bench, chassis dynamometer, and through on-road test trips all over the world.
